Quito, April 2025 – BYD, the world leader in new energy vehicle sales, and Fundación Futuro, through its innovative initiative NFTree, a mechanism focused on financing conservation projects in Ecuador—have announced a strategic alliance that will strengthen the protection of one of the planet’s most biodiverse ecosystems: the Chocó Andino.
Thanks to this partnership, for every BYD vehicle sold in Ecuador, 1,000 square meters of the Yanacocha Reserve—located in the heart of the Chocó Andino—will be conserved. This initiative aims to effectively channel contributions from companies committed to sustainability, generating direct benefits for conservation and ensuring fair compensation for forest landowners and local communities. The project directly contributes to BYD’s global goal of helping reduce the planet’s temperature by 1°C.
The project is part of NFtree plataformled by Fundación Futuro, which uses technology to conserve valuable ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and improve the quality of life of local communities. The platform facilitates the flow of resources to specific territories for ecosystem protection and to achieve sustainable landscapes while mitigating the effects of climate change.
The official signing of the agreement took place on Tuesday 15 Aprilat the Yanacocha Reserve, during a symbolic event that brought together institutional leaders and media representatives, highlighting the joint commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
